Tax Refund Scam
There is a phishing email scam that is going around where the con artist (traced by the Division of Consumer Protection to Copenhagen, Denmark) lures consumers into thinking that the email is from the "Department of Treasury" and that the consumer is due a tax refund. The email requests the consumer to respond to the email by submitting their personal account information with a tax refund request.
Don't fall for this scam. The U.S. government will never contact you through an email with instructions for you to submit a request for a refund with your personal account information.
