Utah's Do Not Call Program

In the 2003 and 2004 General Sessions, the Utah Legislature made changes to the Telephone and Facsimile Solicitation Act to reduce unsolicited telemarketing calls made to Utah telephone numbers. The Utah program prohibits, with some exemptions, calling a telephone number contained in the Utah No-Call database to sell consumer goods or services.

The Utah No-Call database consists of the Utah telephone numbers contained in the Federal Do-Not-Call registry. In other words, if you have registered your telephone number with the Federal Do-Not-Call registry, that telephone number is automatically registered with the Utah No-Call database. You may register a telephone number with the Federal Do-Not-Call registry at no cost by visiting www.donotcall.gov or by calling 1-888-382-1222.

Please Note: On December 17, 2007, Congress passed a bill making permanent the telephone numbers currently listed on the Do-Not-Call Registry. To have a number removed from the registry, it now requires that there be a specific request made by the consumer, or that the number be disconnected or re-assigned. Consumers no longer need to worry about the need to re-register their telephone numbers every five years.
