Identity Theft

The Utah Attorney General’s Office is responsible for investigating and prosecuting identity theft crimes in Utah.  If you are a Utah victim of identity theft, report the crime by going to the Attorney General’s web page located at www.idtheft.utah.gov.  The Attorney General’s Office has developed a program that can help you regain your identity.  The program, known as the Identity Theft Reporting Information System or IRIS, can help fou with drafting fraud affidavits, contacting the credit reporting companies to place fraud alerts, obtaining a credit freeze, obtaining a law enforcement incident number, among other things.
